Notched into the hillside, this residence reflects the sloped nature of its setting with tiered spaces defined by materials and use. Terraced and rooftop gardens inhabited with boulders and high altitude/fire-wise plant material provides immediate natural beauty to be enjoyed from inside, at the spa, and at the outdoor kitchen. Stairways and paths lead into the dense aspen and oak groves strengthening the connection to this environment. An important quality for the design was to improve and maintain views both upslope to the native landscape and across the Aspen valley toward the ski slopes and Elk Mountain Range.
